TREVENTUS Digitization-Workshop
TREVENTUS held a workshop about mass digitization at LIDA 2010 introducing
the
Digitization Center of the Bavarian State Libray
in Munich (Germany) as a "best-practice example".
Especially the possibilities of efficient but also,
in terms of conservation, gentle mass
digitization of books from the 16th century were adressed.

Experiences from one the worldwide biggest digitization projects
For this digitization project, which is one of the biggest worldwide,
three
ScanRobots® SR301
were successfully used considering the extremly
demanding specifications in terms of conservation.
The duration of this project was 18 months (from begining of 2008
to middle of 2009) and during that time the Bavarian State Library
digitized 1.7 million pages and a total of 8.900 books from the
16th century with the
ScanRobots®
Faster scanning using the ScanRobot®
Due to the operation of the automatic book scanners from TREVENTUS
the achieved digitization speed during this project
was three times faster than with manual book scanners using the
same amount of operators.
